Baby Blessing

On our southern Utah trip, we decided to have Emilia blessed. Hy and I are pretty low key kind of people. We like to keep things pretty mellow and laid back. So when we were thinking of having the baby blessed, we decided that we didn't want anything crazy. We didn't want to do it in front of a million people, and we didn't want a huge party. So we decided to do it at my grandparent's house in Cedar. There were only like 10 people there and it was perfect.

(It was really special to have it at my grandparent's house because they were the first family we told! A year or two all of this, grandma had made me promise that when we finally did get pregnant that I would tell her before any one else! I told her on her birthday last year and we both bawled like babies!)

We wanted my grandpa to bless the baby and as always it was beautiful. That man can make a tear jerker out of a gnome. Jeeze. Hy held the baby and there were only a few others in the circle: my brother, my dad, grandpa, and a member of the bishop rick. It was short and sweet and exactly what we wanted!

My sister-in-law Jess took some photos after of the family. (all of us, except for her!)

All of the gentlemen from the circle (with the exception of the random clerk)

You can't forget my favorite boy of all time

A bunch more of the family!

Just need to photoshop Jess in on this one!

After all of the pictures we had pizza and ate my dad's famous cheesecake bars! They are my absolute favorite and practically the only thing I wanted to eat when I was in the hospital having the baby.

I was just remembering the other day how the week before I found out I was FINALLY pregnant, there were signs every where. I mean EVERY WHERE! I would sit down and watch t.v. and there would like 4 first response pregnancy test commercials back to back. The first time it happened I thought that was someone was just really bad at their job, but like the 5th time it happened I started to get a little bit crazy! I would drive to work and suddenly there would be a billboard up saying things like " Are you pregnant? Do you want to be a mom?" and then a random number. This stuff went of for a solid week before I finally got to my test day. If nothing had happened by that day I was supposed to test. I was totally set on not testing and just being a grumpy jerk for a solid chunk of time, but those signs were everywhere!! Pretty crazy.

Gorgeous pictures avalanche!

I wanted to just post a couple of my favorite pictures that Jess at JLD Photography took!! They turned out absolutely gorgeous! If she can make my pasty post pregnancy butt look great, she can do anything! And I love that we have really good pictures of our little family now!

I love this picture of Hy and the baby so much! He doesn't think it looks great because she is crying, but I think it has so much personality! It makes me smile every time!

Here is one that we both love

She seriously took over 300 pictures and there were honestly only like 4 that weren't perfect! And that was only because I was adjusting my position! I love all of them and have to decide which ones to get printed, or I will just end up putting them all over EVERY SINGLE WALL. And that would look crazy!

The lost pictures...

I was uploading pictures onto my new computer from my Nikon and found some random gems! I love finding pictures that you totally forgot about!

This one is one that Hy took when I was about 7 weeks pregnant. All I could do was: sleep, go to work, nap, and barf my brains out. I was SOO sick! I could barely drive to work, even being in the car made me have to barf. Watching t.v. even got really bad! The flashing images and bright colors got to me!

Side note: I don't think I will ever look at wheat thins or brown rice the same. Un-barfable my butt.

This picture is from the Peach Days Parade 2012. There are a couple of things going on! My nephew was giving attitude to the kids who weren't following the rules about staying out of the street ( such a good boy!) as you can see by his face!

The next thing I want to point out is the almost finished tray of nachos in the bottom corner. I was 10 weeks pregnant and had been okay with the nausea for the last few days. I ate breakfast, we got ready, and went to the parade. Well right as the sirens started, I felt like barfing my brains out. I needed food stat! All of the booths were closed, but my dad (the saint that he is) got the nacho stand to open and make me a huge plate of jalapeno and cheese nachos. I plowed through them and they were seriously the best nachos of my entire life. Also: it was 9 am.

These are my husband's feet, wearing his Christmas socks that I gave him in McCall Idaho! He wore them all day to make me happy. And I don't think I have seen them since.

The beautiful ladies that I used to work with at The Dessert Tray in Beaverton threw me a baby shower! They took such great care of me and Robin made this cake just for me! I never thought I would go to a baby shower that didn't make me feel a little empty inside, but this time there wasn't any room to feel empty! There was already a big old baby inside!

It was yellow cake with pastry cream and fresh berries inside. I ate it for about 5 days straight before I made Hyrum get rid of it!

This is the group shot of all of my favorite co-workers/ friends! And yes there is a man in there! Hy came and took lots of pictures! I was 36 weeks pregnant and it was also my last day of work!

This is one of the very first pictures of Hy holding our baby for the first time. She started crying after she left my arms and then he started talking to her and she just stopped. It's like she instantly recognized his voice and calmed down. It was pretty beautiful.

This is the very first picture of me holding baby Emilia. My legs are still in the stir ups and I had just barely given birth! They plopped her on my chest, covered her with a towel, and put a little hat on her head. It was the most life altering moment of my universe. She was gorgeous from the get, no weirdly squished head and swollen features. Just big lips and a perfect face! I am totally biased.

This one of the pictures that you could try to pose, but it just wouldn't ever be as special. My mom and grandma Zola talking to Em. No one has their hair done or make up. My mom is wearing her tie dyed Mumu. But look how happy everyone looks! Even the baby was chatting it up!

This picture makes me laugh because my mom was high lighting my hair and mid process the baby got fussy. So my mom strapped Em on, covered her with a blanket, and danced her to sleep; all while dying my hair! It was just one of those things!

There are so many more, but I think that's all for now. I better get to bed before the baby decides it's time to be awake! Goodnight!

A few videos...

Here are just a few videos of Em starting to talk. The first three are from our hotel room in Boise on the way back from Southern Utah! And the last one is when I caught her talking to her monkey. Haha

She is talking even more now, smiling, and laughing! She just gets more fun every single day!

3 months!

So Emilia is going to be 3 months old tomorrow! In some ways I can't hardly believe it and in others I totally believe it! I know that every parent thinks that their child is so much farther ahead than every one else's, and I am no different! Plus she totally is.

Here are some things about Miss Em:

- She has been rolling over since she was 18 days old. At first we thought that it was a fluke, but she kept doing it. If she doesn't want to do tummy time, you have to sit right by her and keep her from flipping over.
- She is pretty opinionated and I can see a little stubborn streak in her! That makes me pretty happy. Not for my sake, I'm sure the stubbornness will come and bite my butt. Mostly it makes me happy for the strong person she is going to grow up and become!
- She loves bath time! We don't use the infant tub anymore. She loves just laying in the bath in a few inches of water. She goes absolutely mental! She kicks her legs like crazy and her arms get flailing too! She gets so excited when she gets good and going.
- In the last little while she has started laughing in response to our laughter. It is the cutest thing in the world!
- She is talking more and more, and her syllables are really starting to show. Sometimes I play this pitch game with her where I will make a noise in a certain pitch and she will mimic it exactly. Then I will change the pitch and so will she! Pretty adorable.
- She likes to stand up and talk to you eye to eye. She has liked standing up for a while now. She has really strong legs!
- She sleeps in pretty good chunks at night. Usually a 5-6 hour chunk and then a 2-3 hour chunk. Sometimes more! Getting her to go down didn't used to go so well, but I really just let her tell me when she is tired now, instead of trying to force it. Doing that has made me so much more relaxed at night.
-She is still 100% breastfed and doing it like a champ. She picked it up immediately after birth and hasn't had any problems in that department. My goal is 6 months of 100% breastfeeding, followed by pureed food introduction as well as breastfeeding. It's going really great so far.
-Her eyes have turned a million different colors. Before we went to Utah they were pretty hazel. Then while in Utah they were pretty blue. Now they are a gorgeous dark green/grey and I love them. She just has these perfectly shaped big eyes!
-She has one curl on top of her head and it makes her look like a little who!
-She sleeps in her nursery at night and has been for the last two weeks. It is still a little bit of an adjustment but she is doing really well. As much as I miss her being right next to me, it is nice to have our room back. And our video monitor is amazing and lets me check on her constantly. Otherwise I don't think I could have done it!
-Also, this picture may be a little misleading, because she doesn't ever take a binky. It will be in her mouth for all of 5 seconds before she spits them out. She prefers to suck on her fingers. Which isn't great but is pretty stinking cute.
