Life Lately

We haven't had too terribly much going on lately, just the usual summer adventures. We have been working and hanging out a lot.

This week Hy went with a bunch of friends to the SeaHawks vs Broncos game in Seattle. The SeaHawks won it. And yes he went with out me! So rude! He took me shopping to make up for it though ;)

------------------------------------------

While he was away having a blast, I was dying my hair BRIGHT red. During college I was constantly dying my hair. But it has been nearly 6 months since I have been back to my natural color. So I needed a change.

I'm sure I will be changing it in a few weeks.

---------------------------------------------

We have had to treat our pool again and again this summer. We finally got it back to where it should be and the weather has been too chilly to swim! I swam this weekend just to say I had, and I only stayed for about 5 minutes before I had enough.

Lily is good and happy. The usual ear problems, but otherwise good. A spoiled rotten lap dog like always.

And so it goes...

Once upon a time....

I was born! (With a full set of black curls and the music of Styxx)

It was awesome.

When I was a wee one, I broke my arm jumping out of a swing.

My best friend was Sarah Gibbs...my first cousin...

I loved and still love to swim...

I went through a very (unfortunate) ugly phase...

In fact, too unfortunate to mention...

I was a cheerleader (for a VERY short period of time) blah

I have great friends...

With some I traveled out of the country...

I graduated from high school...

...then became an international resident...

after a few months back in the US, I decided to move to Vancouver to be closer to someone...

He asked me to marry him 6 months later, you know...by nearly killing me...

kidding...he asked me later that night!

6 months after that... we got married!

2 years after that, I graduated from College...

And now here I am wondering how I got to be 22 already??

White water rafting...

Today was a beautiful day! Not because it was sunny (it wasn't) or because I had loads of peace and quiet (I hate my neighbor), but because I got back our rafting pictures. They are a bit grainy and well what do you expect from a water camera? What a blast!

My very studly husband in his very manly wetsuit...

Me with crazy hair and no make up, after cliff jumping into freezing water...

Of course the aforementioned cliff jumping...

Enjoying a few quiet moments on the river...

on the very,very cold day...

Floating along with our raft mates...

Eyeballing the falls before man handling them...

Us "riding the bull" on husum falls...
(Click to see the impending doom up close)

If any one wants to go with us again... the season is still open!!

It was a good night...

Dont be jealous or anything...

Can I also add:

Through this whole car accident headache and pending mountains of excess(yes excess) paper work, I have come to this conclusion...

Insurance agencies are not really

"On your side."

You are not really

"In good hands."

And unlike a good neighbor, they do not

"Get you back where you belong."

Favorite Vacation of all time so far.

Today is Friday(well in 9 minutes it will be), and that means...

KellysKornerblog.com

This week it is "Favorite Vacations" and boy have I had some great ones. My all time favorite was the 3 weeks I spent in France. The largest portion of time was spent in Saint Tropez and it was quite simply...lovely.

We first flew in to Nice, and I had to continually pinch myself so I wouldn't walk around slack jawed. EVERYTHING was the MOST beautiful thing I had ever seen.

----------------------------------------------------

Immediately after landing in Nice, we drove down the coast to Saint Tropez. We stayed at a Chateau of friends overlooking the whole bay for 2 weeks. Everything was beautiful.

There were HUGE yachts everywhere. I'm talking price tags in the millions. I was fortunate enough to spend a lovely afternoon on one eating lunch...and yes... they did have a full staff. They also had a hot tub on board.

The inside of the Chateau had remained untouched ever since it was built. Everything was rustic and rather simple. Which I totally loved. (With the exception of the great pool)

My bedroom...

The streets weren't wide at all(Our car barely fit down them)and every store was so beautiful.

I spent most of my time there, running after wee ones, swimming, and napping... I was doing the later below after a swim.

------------------------------------------

After the wonderful time in Saint Tropez, we headed further along the coast to
Aix-en-Provence where we stayed the night in the most beautiful hotel. The name is Hotel Des Augustins The outside looked like a regular warehouse down a random alley. But inside...

...scrumptious.

Aix was entirely beautiful, with lovely architecture every where you looked.

After spending some time in Aix, we drove to Marseille and flew out of the country. On our way to another adventure in another country.

Great Weekend!

My weekends are always fun, but this weekend was a blast! It started out with Saturday's rafting trip! *ps I saved Hyrums life with the flop and giggle...Ill tell you later in the week* The pictures wont be ready until Friday-ish, so I cant wait!

Today we headed out to Sonic for the happy hour like always...*I partook of a raspberry lime aid, it was Divine. Then we headed out to see Julie & Julia, which was a blast. The theater was full to the brim with people over the age of 55.(Hy was slightly uncomfortable!)

I feel like I must interject a little shpeel about Julia Child and other female chefs. Julia (along with the likes of Ann Cooper) have done wonders for female chefs, myself included. My thesis paper before graduation was on "The Effect Female Chefs Have Had on My Generation".If you take a look at the positions of woman in the professional kitchen through out our entire history, you can see the magnitude of change that a few strong woman have created.

If I felt like people would actually read it, I would post it on here. But to sum it up its about 14 pages of inspirational female chefs and what they have done to take us from point A to Point Z.

------------------------------------------------

Anyway! Tonight I looked through my produce cupboard and found 4 bananas that were on their last leg. So it was time to make Banana walnut cupcakes with chocolate chunks. Topped with browned butter frosting. Ignore the poor quality of photo, cell phones. *you know how it is when you are knee deep in it*

--------------------------------------------

The car is going into the shop at 8 am tomorrow morning! Feels like it is about time! We are getting set up with a rental car for the next 3-5 days, and hopefully it doesn't end up being a hatchback. No offence any hatchback lovers.

I am just ready to have the car looking as brand new as when we drove off of the lot. Not like there was an insane amount of damage or anything, but knowing it is there irritates my mind! Yay insurance!

---------------------------------------------

This month is going to be tricky.

Plans for tomorrow...

Once a year, late in the summer, we go on a white water rafting trip with our friends. That day is tomorrow! We go down the White Salmon River and hit up the Granny Snatcher! Yes it really is called that. It has a water fall at the end that makes it that much more exciting!

I will have pictures sometime after tomorrow! I have to use a throw away water safe camera, because when you go on the waterfall you dive in deep with the raft. So it will take time to get them developed. I am very excited.

I'll let you figure it out...

So last Tuesday was my birthday. I had a great one and really enjoyed everything about it...buuuuut... I have been sitting on pins and needles waiting for my parent's present to arrive.

They asked me what I wanted for my birthday.Since they recently bought a new ******* I said "Can you send me your old one?" And instead of doing that, this is what I got in the mail today...

Do you know what it is yet??

Getting warmer...

It is my new best friend!!

Its my brand new Printer/ Copier/ Scanner magical machine extraordinaire! I dont usually find electronics beautiful, but I certainly teared up at this beauty.

* Ignore all of the random cords... I am still getting organized!

♥Happy Belated Birthday Me!♥

Honeymoon and Wedding Cake!

Its almost Friday so it that time again! KellysKornerBlog.com! Yay.

We are finally nearing the end of wedding palooza. So of course I will start with my very favorite thing in the world.......CAKE!

Now that I am living in the wedding cake world, I have complete understanding that it is more difficult to produce a cleanly frosted and simple wedding cake, than one covered in faux flowers and fondant.

Here is our ever so simple cake...

Us feeding each other cake....MMMM...

-----------------------------------------------

We planned our real honeymoon for 2 weeks after the wedding at a spa in the middle of the Washington woods. It was beautiful and had a massive hot tub on our private balcony.

But after the wedding (in Utah) we had to get all of our stuff (and 8 million wedding presents) up the coast to Washington. So we took about a week and drove home. We spent a lot of time at out of the way B&B's and really just spent time relaxing with each other.

One of our favorite places was right on the ocean and was very secluded. It had a beautiful garden outside our deck...

and a very lovely view of the(very close) ocean...

---------------------------------------------

We stayed in places so private that we felt like we were in on our own private island. Our room was hidden up a secret little staircase...

We spent a lot of time eating out at great little gems of restaurants, and just spending quality time together.

I think its about time to do it again.....
