Busy Lives!

Hy and I have been having lots of fun lately, but who really wants to sits down and blog! But on a day like today (where it is cold in the house, and I don't want to do anything but sit on the couch) it seems fitting.

So what has been going on lately?

We went and did a little shopping the other day and I found some great copper Brioche molds.

I like the shape of them so much that I used one to make a tiny lemon cake with a light lemon glaze.

What else??

Work has been great. Fun as always. I did this cake last weekend. It is a 4' and 6' stacked cake. I think it came out pretty cute.

We did a few little decorative touches in the guest room, because my cousin and his wife are coming to stay for a night or so.

Last night a few of us from the Dessert Tray (Robin and Angel, the owners; and Baker Beth) all got to go to OMSI-after dark. Which stands for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and the after dark is for 21 years and up. It was SO much fun. Get ready for a total picture overload!

Hy and I spent the 4th together and it was lots of fun! I slept in and Hyrum (my handsome farm boy) got up early, like he always does. It was nice spending two whole days together, which was a great change! We usually only get one!

He made us some fantastic nachos for lunch...

We spent the afternoon at the movie theater, where we saw Grown Ups and it was pretty hilarious. We probably spent the entire time laughing.

After the movie, we went and spent too much money on fireworks! When we got home, we spent some time grilling and getting ready to start lighting them off . Lily was peachy for most of the time, but the BIG fireworks scared her!

Everyone in our neighborhood pretty much knows each other and every year we light off fireworks together in the culdesac.

Lily spent today needing some extra attention... and naps.

Work starts back up tomorrow morning and it looks like it is going to be a great week.

There is nothing better after a few exhausting weeks at work (followed by a super exhausting vacation) then spending the weekend doing absolutely nothing! Nothing you don't want to do that is!

Lily and I spent lots of time in the sun yesterday

Because I bake so much at work, I dont really have a lot of desire to bake at home. But this weekend I felt like baking something tasty for Hy.

A little trick I've learned is to never throw away those almost too far gone bananas, but instead freeze them. I take them out of the freezer a few hours before I want to use them and let them hang out on the counter. Its a great way to always have bananas on hand for some tasty bread.

The recipe that I use for banana bread usually calls for 1 1/2 cup of sour cream. But instead of that I use plain Greek yogurt. It gives you the tartness with not nearly as much fat.

Killer right? *Yes I added chocolate chips, I am a bad woman!

Speaking of work, this week we had a birthday party for Robin. Angel and Beth made the most gorgeous cake and suprised the crap out of her! I stole one of her photos, because all of the ones I took were on my phone and really crappy quality!

Have a magical week!

A much needed break

My family got together this weekend in Southern California for a little ruenion. It was loads of fun! AND SUPER WARM.

I had to work on Saturday but immediately after we headed to PDX and flew to LA! My parents picked us up and we headed off to Anaheim, where one of the locations of our time share is located. It was a pretty nice condo and we were super comfy.

My brothers and their wives, my nephew, and one of my grandmothers was there waiting for us!

We spent most of our time at DisneyLand and it was so much fun seeing Hyrum and Jaxten experience it for the first time. We were at the park from 7 am until midnight EVERY DAY. How crazy can we be right?!

Get ready for a picture overload! We went on every ride a million times!
