7th birthday cake

I was asked to pick colors and create a birthday cake for a 7 year old girl. Its obviously not the most gorgeous cake I have ever seen. But it is my first out of school, working with clients, and working at Sweet Cakes. I am excited to do my next one and to keep getting better.

The cake is soo amazing. It is an incredible chocolate cake, with ganache filling, and sliced strawberries. Smelled soo good.

Part of my favorite poem before bed...

...Lead us, as if we were righteous

Into the blue light of heaven.

Where no one will forgive anyone,

just in case it is condescending.

And we will love each other

to the withered toes.

This Week...

I know I should be posting more because so many exciting things are happening. But because so many exciting this ARE HAPPENING I have NO time to blog!

I started working at Sweet Cakes this week. The owner Melissa has graciously offered to take me under her wing and teach me all of the secrets of the cake world. What a great couple of days it has been so far.

Monday:

We started out the day by making 7 cheesecakes. All in preperation for a cheesecake tasting at the end of the week. Flavors varrying from banana fudge cheesecake to White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. It was incredible. We also made sauces for the lemon and lime flavored cheesecakes...so delish.

Tuesday:

Sat in on my first ever cake tasting and designing session for a bride and a groom planning not only a winter wedding, but an engagement party this weekend. Its amazing to see random ideas turn into a beautifully tasteful cake. We made the engagement cakes then so that we could get started on the Bull Horn decorations...long story!

Wednesday(Today):

Today we made more cheesecakes, two 6" chocolate cake rounds, and two 12" butter cake rounds for a cake that is going out this weekend. Then I torted a pink champagne cake filled with white chocolate ganache filling and sliced strawberries...between each layer! MMM. Then frosted it with delicious buttercream. It was a hilarious birthday cake....imagine it if you will....

On top of a beautifully decorated cake, imagine another cake with a half naked Peter Griffin coming out of it only wearing pastie tassels, heels, and stockings. To die for.

Melissa is soo creative.

Also today we did our own cheese cake tasting to make sure that everything was delicious......and it was. It was insane how good it was.

There are soo many more things that have happened but it is just too much to remember! The main point of this blog is that I love my job and am finding myself getting better and more comfortable with my abilities as every day passes. Pictures as sooon as I decide to take any!
